About us

As a food specialist awarding body and end-point assessment organisation the food and drink industry is at the heart of everything we do. Part of the ftc group, we’re a not-for-profit organisation which enables us to focus on doing the right thing, not driving the bottom line.

Though we’ve been developing accredited qualifications for almost 20 years our roots trace back to 1946, with the establishment of the Institute of Meat (IoM). The IoM remains a sister organisation and a valuable source of meat industry expertise to this day.

How are we regulated?

As an awarding body we are regulated by the qualifications regulators of
England, Northern Ireland and Wales - Ofqual, CCEA and Qualifications in Wales
(QiW). This permits us to develop and award vocational qualifications suitable for
further education colleges, learning providers and food businesses.

As an end-point assessment organisation we are approved by the Institute for
Apprenticeships and Technical Education to deliver end-point assessment (EPA)
for a range of apprenticeship standards. See the full range of standards we
deliver EPA for
here or call us on 0113 859 1266 to talk to a member of the team.
