We would like to draw our centres' attention to the recent release of two new Food Industry Skills (VRQ) learning based qualifications at level 2, now available for use.

These regulated qualifications have been developed and accredited due to demand from centres to provide further progression for learners in a learning based environment. They are therefore appropriate for those who wish to move onto further study or into a career in the food industry.

All those centres with current approval for FDQ's level 1 Food Industry Skills (VRQs) are entitled to have these qualifications added to their approval at no additional charge. If you would like to gain approval, please email to request this addition.

More about level 2 FIS (VRQs)

These qualifications are designed for learners who wish to develop their skills and understanding to support progression into further learning or into a food industry career. Their purpose is to provide an overview of the types of skills, knowledge and job roles available in the food industry by developing operational skills and where appropriate employability skills.

The qualifications will develop practical skills and understanding in food operations which can be applied to a range of product areas/types such as those in bakery, catering, dairy, meat/poultry and convenience foods together with some specific industry knowledge such as the importance of food safety.
