Apprentice of the Month

Apprentice of the Month

27/7/2018 - Posted in: General news

Congratulations to Lucy Rowlinson, from Grants Butchers in Crewe, our first Apprentice of the Month! Lucy has just completed her Level 2 Butcher end-point assessment (EPA).

The team at FDQ feel she deserves this accolade as she is our first female butcher to achieve the highest grade possible at EPA – ‘Pass with Excellence.’

Lucy (20) took her EPA at Reaseheath College and described the butchery apprenticeship as:

‘a challenge but one I as prepared to take on’

and added:

‘I found that the people around me and my co-workers really helped with my motivation towards the course, especially Ann Champ from Reaseheath College who believed in me more than I did myself.’

Lucy’s boss and owner of Grants, John, said of the young butcher:

‘Lucy’s very conscientious and a quick learner, so she’s progressed really well in a relatively short time. As well as having excellent knife skills she also has a good grasp of the business side of things; the need to deliver a good product but make a profit too.’

Why not nominate one of your apprentices for Apprentice of the Month? We’re not just looking for the most successful apprentices. We’re also interested to hear about apprentices who are especially dedicated, are facing challenges in their apprenticeship or simply deserve a bit of a boost! To nominate an apprentice simply email stating their name, age, employer and training provider and your reasons for nominating them. Please title your email ‘Apprentice of the Month’. Nominations will be judged by the FDQ team and the chosen apprentice will be featured in the newsletter and here on our website.
