Nominations for the Institute of Meat (IoM) and Worshipful Company of Butchers' (WCB) Annual Awards are now closed.
We would like to encourage all meat and poultry training providers, colleges and employers with outstanding students and apprentices on their books, to attend these most coveted of meat industry prizegivings.

Would you like to get involved in the qualification validity groups which we will be rolling out in 2015?
Groups will focus on specific types of qualifications and sectors so you would be able to elect to join those most appropriate to the work of your centre.

Thornton’s production line manager Jodie Adcock has won the inaugural Young Talent of the Year award in the food manufacturing industry’s Oscars – the Food Manufacturing Excellence Awards, at the London Park Lane Hilton in a glittering award ceremony on the 20th November.

FDQ has released Romanian versions of the examination papers which complement the food safety endorsed programme. We therefore now have exam papers available in EIGHT different foreign languages to support the multi-lingual nature of our food sector.
Centres with approval to offer our suite of food safety programmes in foreign languages are automatically entitled to utilise the new Romanian versions.

We would like to draw our centres' attention to the recent release of two new Food Industry Skills (VRQ) learning based qualifications at level 2, now available for use.
These regulated qualifications have been developed and accredited due to demand from centres to provide further progression for learners in a learning based environment. They are therefore appropriate for those who wish to move onto further study or into a career in the food industry.

On the 18th September, the Food and Drink Federation (FDF) Awards ceremony took place at The Brewery in London, attended by our Standards and Quality Director in his role as an Awards judge.
TV presenter Kate Derham hosted the evening of celebration, during which the winners of the 14 coveted FDF Awards were announced. Finalists came from a range of well-known food manufacturers including: Coca-Cola, Nestle, Britvic and Premier Foods.

Thorntons recognise CQM Training & Consultancy Ltd’s contribution to their spectacular increase of 60% in net profits.
Thorntons partly attributed this success to CQM T&C’s 3 year Food Manufacturing Excellence (FME) programme of training and delivery with their Operations staff. The programme delivered over 3 years trained 80 individuals based at the Derby based high street confectioner.

We are pleased to announce that we are running an FDQ Centre Meeting & CPD Event on Wednesday 12th November. This will provide critical support to our centres in dealing with the reforms which are on the horizon.
The event is focussed on the reforms taking place in education, training, qualifications and funding.
